MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I bring a lot of energy to my class. If I can't get excited about

my subject, why should my students?

There are a number of things I try to accomplish for my students:
  1. A positive atmosphere. Students are called upon to discuss questions, but mistakes are treated as opportunities to explore misconceptions, not as a reflection of a student's abilities.
  2. Using an active approach. I used to engage my students in discussions, activities, and higher-level thinking questions and answer. I believe that all student can learn, therefore I have high expectations for students. I include interesting learning activities in my lessons to grab the attention of students and inspire them to learn.
  3. Fair experimenting and exploring. Students in my class explore meaning, engage in critical thinking, and conduct their own experiments because i love to use inquiry based-learning method when comes to hands on activities. Students can learn from each other if given an environment that balances structure with interactive learning.
  4. Access to a caring individual. No, I don't know all their names. But when I am teaching 180++ students, I work with my place always open, and I am available to help although it require me to extend my working hours to the maximum.
  5. Guide students through the learning process. This necessitates me providing them with the tools for success by facilitating access to what some students may feel is unattainable. The integration of technology is a great equalizer that helps foster a student-centered learning. Technology-rich environments allow students to venture away from isolated learning and into successful partner and small group settings.
  6. As a role model in the class. I  believe in life long learning and leading by example in the classroom and will strive to be a strong, positive role model and to create a warm, welcoming, accepting and safe environment for students where positive reinforcement is emphasized.
  7. Respect. Students work hard, earn their grades, and are entitled to their opinions. My task is to facilitate their learning process. It is my goal to improve student achievement with quality instruction that prepares children to influence the future.

P/S : Actually teaching philosophy is a document in progress. As my teaching changes and my professional identity grows, my teaching philosophy will also change and grow. So revisit because i will rewrite it as my beliefs and experiences progress and change... :)
